Dr. Narita holds M.Sc. and B.Sc. (chemistry) from the University of Tokyo, Japan.  After having worked at the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology, he began his doctoral study at Columbia University in the USA and earned a PhD (sustainable development), focusing on economic analysis of climate change. He joined the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in June 2008.
